Biography

Larisa Rowe, PhD is an educator with a unique combination of the research, clinical and teaching experience which she gained internationally. She graduated from KyIv State University, Ukraine with Masters of Science in Biology and Education. She earned her PhD in Biology from Russian Academy of Sciences. While a scientist, Larisa was actively involved in the developing of educational programs in Biology and Environmental Studies for Ukrainian Secondary schools. After winning an international competition for the position of Scholar in Residence at Montclair State University, NJ she moved to the USA. In 1997 she moved to CT where she obtained her degree in Medical Laboratory Science and worked as a clinical Microbiologist and Andrologist. She is an ASCP certified Medical Technologist. In 2009 she started working at HCC as an adjunct Microbiology Instructor and later as an adjunct professor in Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science at University of Bridgeport. Currently, she is dedicating herself to teaching on a full-time basis as an instructor of Biology/Microbiology at HCC. Dr. Rowe is an active participant of scientific teaching seminars and programs. She was named a Scientific Fellow of Yale Institute for Scientific Teaching.
