Professor of English
Stephanie A. Hart, originally from Amherst, Massachusetts, holds a BA in English literature from Barnard College and an MFA in Poetry from the Writing Division of the School of the Arts at Columbia University. She has studied with poets Allen Ginsberg, Derek Walcott and Daniel Halpern, among others. She has many years of teaching experience, including 20 years at both Housatonic Community College, where she has served as the Chairperson of the Humanities Department, and at Yale's English Language Institute. Currently, she teaches composition, literature and creative writing at HCC during the academic year, and she teaches poetry writing at the Yale Writers' Conference and the English language and poetry at Yale's English Language Institute during the summer. She lives in Branford, CT with her husband, Professor Robert Nelson, and their two daughters, Chloe Alexandra and Simone Claire.
