Biography

“Failure is not an Option”- a quote on a souvenir from the Kennedy Space Center- sits upon the desk of Professor Teresa (Terry) Kozek, a long-serving English faculty member in the First Year Studies Dept. This quote captures her philosophy of education. She strives to give her best to each student with whom she comes into contact and also expects students not to settle for less. Professor Kozek holds a B.A. in English from Providence College and an M.A. from the University of Connecticut in Comparative Literature (English/Spanish). Her projects at Housatonic Community College over the years have involved her in community connections with the local high schools in the Bridges Program, in designing new curriculum including the FS 100 Freshman Seminar course offered to most incoming students at HCC, and in tutoring writing/reading in the Academic Support Center. When not at HCC, she enjoys traveling (especially to places where she can practice her Spanish) and going on walks to exercise and unwind.
