CAP & GOWN INFORMATION

Deadline to order caps and gowns: April 1, 2024. Student Caps and Gowns are ordered through Jostens website and distributed by CT State Housatonic's Follett Bookstore.

Pick up: May 9 through May 22, 2024, at CT State Housatonic’s Follett Bookstore during business hours or at GRADfest2024 on May 9, 2024, in LH L109 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. A valid photo ID must be shown at pickup.

Where can I order my cap & gown?

Students who will be graduating can pre-order caps and gowns online. https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1024436/Housatonic-Community-College/ If you did not pre-order a cap and gown, you can still get one at the bookstore. There is no charge for caps & gowns. The last day for online pre-orders of Cap and Gowns is April 1, 2024.

When can I pick up my cap and gown?

Pick up will be beginning May 9th at the GRADfest in LH L109 from 10:00am – 1:00pm through May 22nd at the bookstore during bookstore hours. A valid photo ID must be shown at pickup.

What if I forgot to order my cap and gown?

Graduates that did not pre-order cap and gowns by April 1st, will still be able to pick up a cap and gown beginning May 9th at the GRADfest in LH L109 from 10:00am – 1:00pm through May 22nd at the bookstore during bookstore hours. Caps and gowns will also be available at the Amphitheater on May 23. A valid photo ID must be shown at pickup.

FAQ's

What time does the ceremony begin?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10am. All students should arrive by 8:30am. The Student Procession will begin promptly at 9:45am.

What time should graduates arrive?

Graduates should arrive for 8:30am. Please check the commencement website for important updates related to graduate entry and procession assembly directions. www.housatonic.edu/commencement. Students who have chosen to participate in the commencement ceremony must plan to stay for the entire ceremony.

What time can guests arrive?

Guests can enter from 8:30am to 9:15am to be seated for the start of the Student Procession.

Is parking available?

Yes, the Amphitheater has two large parking lots available across the street. You can also park in the HCC parking garage, it is a 5-10 min. walk.

Will professional photography be available?

A professional photographer will be available to take your photo after receiving your diploma cover on stage at commencement. An order form will be mailed to you from the photographer so you can make arrangements directly with the studio for purchasing the photographs.

What if I need special accommodations?

If you are a graduate with a disability who needs special accommodations, please contact Marilyn Wehr, Coordinator of Accessibility Services, , (203) 332-5018, no later than May 10.

What if my guests need special accommodations?

Guests of Students who require accessible seating at the ceremony will be assisted upon arrival by the staff of the Amphitheater.

How do I receive my honor cords?

Honor cords will be distributed at the Amphitheater prior to the ceremony to students who have honors (3.4) or higher.

Will I receive my diploma at graduation?

All graduates will be given a diploma cover on stage. Diplomas will be available for pick up in August on campus. Please watch your college email for information regarding diploma pick up.
