Biography

Jazmyne Washington is an instructor of Sociology at HCC with over six years of teaching experience. She earned both of her degrees from Southern Connecticut State University where she conducted research centered on race, gender, and media.

Before teaching full time, Professor Washington lectured at Quinnipiac University where she won the Mary Sapir Lesser Part-Time Faculty award and taught classes on topics such as death & dying, sociology through film, race & ethnicity, and introductory sociology. Prior to teaching, Professor Washington had a history of non-profit service, including being the Administrative Officer for Sociologists for Women in Society in its SCSU and University of Kansas office.

Professor Washington is a member of the American Sociological Association, and a lifetime member of Sociologists for Women in Society. Outside of HCC she is a mom who enjoys movies so bad they’re good, crafting everything from amigurumi to woodworks, and increasing her pop culture references.
