Biography

Pamela Pirog is the Chairperson of the Business Administration Department and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Accounting at Housatonic Community College.  She has been a member of the faculty at Housatonic Community College for over twenty years.  In addition, she serves as the Coordinator of Entrepreneurial education; partnering with local colleges and organizations, thereby supporting small business initiatives for both students and community members. Pam is an active member of Connecticut Consortium of Entrepreneurship Educators (CCEE), collaborating with two and four year colleges regarding innovative entrepreneurial education and initiatives. Pam is the Coordinator of the Housatonic Community College Innovation and Entrepreneurial Center and SCORE office, responsible for linking community organizations and students to resources at Housatonic Community College, launching and growing local, regional, and global small businesses.

As an educator, she is continually partnering with transfer organizations and community partners, specifically, working with community partners on current entrepreneurial projects: University of Bridgeport Connecticut Next Grant, Bridgeport Innovation Places (BIP), promoting entrepreneurial education and showcasing student businesses.   Pam collaborates with the University of Bridgeport on the Community College Elevator Pitch Competition, and provides workshops and seminars at Housatonic Community College for students and community members, partnering with University of Bridgeport, SCORE, SBA and BIP.  Pam collaborated with University of Bridgeport on a study abroad Costa Rica Project, allowing students from University of Bridgeport and Housatonic Community College to participate in a Cost of Goods Sold Analysis of Coffee Bean growing and production.

Pam is serving as the Housatonic Community College China Project Coordinator, collaborating with three-year higher education schools in China for student and faculty exchange programs.  She traveled to China in Summer of 2017 with a team of cross-disciplinary faculty to establish the partnership between Chinese faculty and Housatonic Community College faculty.  In Spring 2018, Housatonic Community College hosted seven faculty members from China and immersed them in the teaching/learning culture of the College.  Pam has a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Spanish (proficient in Spanish) from Worcester State College in Worcester, Massachusetts.
